not like that of course. Ladies and Gentlemen; introducing:
Mark Driscoll.
The pastor of Mars Hill Church (one of the 60 fastest growing churches in the US and one of the most influential as well)... thanks to our pastor, our elders for guidance, the poeple who pray for us, and most of all, God who has blessed this church beyond words.
I want to tell you a bit about my church, but I also need 600 more words to hit my quota for the day so this will be short. We have about 5000 members at 3 different campuses and 7 different services. It's amazing. Anyway, that's about it. You should def download last week's sermon. It's amazing, even if you just listen to the part about Hemp Fest and how Pastor Mark went. It awesome. Do it. http://marshillchurch.org it's on the right, the sermon is "Did Jesus Rise From Death?"
I love you,
sara

How do you mean "influential"?
I don't know. I got the numbers wrong. We're one of the top 15 fastest growing and one of the 22 most influential according to something. influential in the sense of Willow Creek kind of thing I think.
except we are better than Willow.
5000 in the most unchurched city in America, that's a pretty good number. Yay Jesus.
better than another church?
aren't we all supposed to be members of the same church?
i think of churches kinda like bisquick.
it's the same fundamental recipe, but you can make it into biscuits or pancakes or waffles or muffins or even a bisquick loaf!
i don't personally believe that God likes pancakes better than muffins.
churches are all good and all influential simply because they are reaching people for God. if a church has 300 members who are sincerely committed to God, what Christian would speak against it?
my church is small. it has also been featured on the national news, been written about in several books, and been featured in the new york times. it has about 400 members. it is nationally acclaimed.
it is no better or worse than any other church out there that is truly committed to God.
I think it is muffins though. I like muffins.
I mean better than Willow because I don't like Willow. Willow is great for some purposes, but, to be honest and critical (it's a generational sin in my family which I am okay with in this moment) I think Willow can kind of miss the point at times. I think it's watered down for seekers. and I don't like watered downness.
and I don't think that size matters at all. I am happy about being a big church because it means that lives are being changed in a city that is not known for it's love of Jesus. I wouldn't care if they all went to First Free Methodist right across the church, I'm just exicted that poeple are finding and experienceing God's love. And I'm happy to be in my church and be a part of it all. We have problems, we talked about some of them on Sunday, but, God is still using us to change Seattle, and that's what I'm excited about. I'm so in love with seeing more and more people joining all Christians throught hisotry and the world on this journey.
which sounds incredibly cliche... but then, I'm a cliche.
